THE CARBON FOOTPRINT
Virgin cashmere generates an average of 170 kg of CO2 per kilogram of fiber produced (a range of 155 to 183 kg depending on production systems). Recycled cashmere generates between 30 and 50 kg. This represents a reduction of approximately 75 to 80%. Applied to a 400-gram Tricot sweater containing 65% recycled cashmere, this translates to roughly 34 kg of CO2 saved per item.

WATER CONSUMPTION
WATER consumption
The production of virgin cashmere requires an average of 65,000 liters of water per kilogram of fiber (ranging from 46,000 to 83,000 liters depending on production systems), including breeding, processing, and dyeing. Recycled cashmere requires between 1,000 and 3,000 liters. This is a reduction of approximately 95 to 97%. For a 400-gram Tricot sweater containing 65% recycled cashmere, this represents a saving of approximately 16,400 liters of water per garment.
These figures are based on reference LCA databases: Textile Exchange, Quantis. Sorting recycled fibers by natural color also reduces the need for additional dyes, and with it, the chemical impact of the process.
GRS 4.0 CERTIFICATION
The Global Recycled Standard (GRS 4.0) is an independent certification that guarantees the traceability of recycled materials, from their source to the finished product. Every stage of the chain is audited and verified.
At Tricot, it certifies the mulesing-free wool used in certain pieces of the range. Proof that the word "recycled" here has a concrete, verifiable, renewed answer.
MULESING-FREE
Some Tricot pieces contain wool — a material chosen for the structure, strength, and hold under intensive wear it brings.
The wool used is a superior grade 140's: a yarn fineness that allows it to be worn against the skin without irritation, close to cashmere in hand-feel.
It is mulesing-free, from flocks raised without this controversial practice, and certified — an independent certification that guarantees the traceability of the fiber from its source to the finished product. Depending on the piece, it represents between 50%, 70%, and 90% of the composition, always paired with a share of cashmere
